Celtic suffer transfer blow as striker signs three-year deal with foreign side

Celtic have missed out on re-signing Kelechi Iheanacho, with the Nigerian striker signing for Turkish side Bursaspor on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old forward played a key role in the club's title win, scoring crucial goals against Dundee, Hibs, and Motherwell in the final Premiership games. He also scored in the Scottish Cup final victory over Dunfermline.

However, following reports that Iheanacho had agreed a contract with Bursaspor, the Turkish club announced the arrival of the striker in an Odyssey-themed introduction video on their social media.

In total, Iheanacho netted nine goals and one assist in 24 appearances for Celtic. Returning manager Martin O'Neill had expressed interest in bringing the striker back for next season.

O'Neill had said last week during the club's pre-season camp in Portugal: "I think there has been [a breakthrough], yeah. I think Michael Nicholson has spoken to Iheanacho's agent at this minute.

"So that's the conversation at this moment."
