Celtic striker target makes claim about future ahead of summer transfer window

David Strelec remains happy at Slovan Bratislava ahead of the summer transfer window.

Celtic ultimately didn't sign Strelec, who coincidentally played against them in the Champions League at the beginning of this season.

The 24-year-old was asked if he would be happy to stay with Bratislava after their 1-0 win over FC Kosice on Saturday: "I think so," he replied [Record].

"The transfer window isn't even open yet, so it'll probably be a while.

"I'm happy about it, but I'm mainly focused on reality. I'm happy at Slovan and I'm at home here. We haven't even talked about it with the management yet, we'll see how it goes. Maybe an even better offer will come."

Strelec has scored 24 goals and assisted eight in 47 Slovan appearances this term. He is their top marksman.

Former Parkhead favourite Lubomir Moravcik recently delivered his verdict on a potential switch: "I have no idea where he will end up but, if he does go to Celtic, I think it would be a good move for the club and the player," he told the Sunday Post.

"David has the capabilities to score goals for Celtic. He knows his way to goal, for sure. He’d score a minimum 20 goals for Celtic in a season. He’s a quality striker and has a presence.

"He shows that every week in Slovakia. He also shows it for his country and he played very well against England in the Euros last summer."
