Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard 'set for Leicester City transfer' according to report

Odsonne Edouard is set for a transfer to Leicester City and will work alongside former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, according to a report this afternoon.

Edouard has cemented himself as the Hoops' talisman since signing from PSG for £9million in the summer of 2018, and the 23-year-old has 21 goals in all competitions so far this season.

But with Celtic enduring a pretty disastrous season, and Edouard's contract running out in the summer of 2022, the time might've come for the striker to head for pastures new - and according to Teamtalk, it is the Foxes who will wrap up a deal for the France Under-21 star in the close season.

Leicester stand an excellent chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League under Rodgers, thanks in no small part to the contribution of striker Jamie Vardy, who has written himself into the club's folklore over the past five years.

But with Vardy turning 35 midway through next season, it seems the City hierarchy are already scouting his long-term replacement and the report claims they've beaten off competition from West Ham to seal the deal for Edouard.

Celtic could demand a fee in the region of the £25million Arsenal paid for Kieran Tierney back in 2019 but with just one year left on his deal, new chief executive Dominic McKay will be intent on making sure the forward doesn't leave for free.
