Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths 'ready for Scotland recall' as he plans Steve Clarke talks

Leigh Griffiths is reportedly set to tell Steve Clarke he's ready for a Scotland return.

The Celtic striker did not feature in the Euro 2020 double header against Russia and Belgium, with the manager choosing not to rush him back after a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Griffiths is fit again following a seven-month battle against major depression and Clarke did not want to put added pressure on the 29-year-old.

But The Scottish Sun report he will now make himself available for October's clash in Moscow.

Griffiths was at Hampden on Monday night to watch his team-mates taking a 4-0 drubbing from the Red Devils, the world's top ranked side.

Defeat makes automatic qualification for next summer's tournament near impossible.

Scotland must now turn their attention to the Nations League play offs in March, with a two-legged semi-final likely against Bulgaria or Israel looming.

The ailing national team have scored fewer goals than any side bar San Marino in Group I, notching just five times in six games and drawing blanks in three.

Sheffield United's Oli McBurnie and West Brom's Matt Phillips shared striker duties during this month's clashes but neither were able to find the net.
