Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths proves what Scotland means to him as he cheers on from the stands

Goal machine Leigh Griffiths is back at Hampden - but only as a fan.

The Celtic striker was left out of Steve Clarke's national squad as he continues to battle back from a period out of the game.

Scotland take on Belgium on Monday night and Griffiths was pictured in the stands before the Euro 2020 qualifier.

Clarke could have done with Griffiths on the pitch but instead picked injured Hearts striker Steven Naismith, Oli McBurnie and Matt Phillips, who starts against Roberto Martinez's superstars.

The  29-year-old has made eight appearances for his club this season and netted eight goals.

But he wasn't viewed as being ready for a return to the national set-up where he has starred for his country.

Griffiths has won 19 caps and scored four times. He is likely to be back for the next double-header in October, against Russia away followed by San Marino at home.
