Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths deletes Twitter account after cryptic social media post

Leigh Griffiths has deleted his Twitter account after making a cryptic social media post.

The Celtic striker has struggled for game time during the first half of the season, sparking speculation over a move away from Parkhead.

And with the arrival of Polish striker Patryk Klimala in a £3.4million deal, the forward could find himself further down the pecking order amid claims his future could lie elsewhere.

And Griffiths appeared to have a message for his critics suggesting he wasn't taking any notice of the outside noise - before proceeding to deactivate his profile shortly afterwards.

He put up a GIF of himself putting his fingers in his ears from Celtic's Christmas video.

The forward also 'liked' BBC journalist Stefan Bienkowski's tweet earlier in the evening where it was suggested Griffiths' or Vakoun Bayo's days at the club could be numbered.

Record Sport columnist Barry Ferguson insisted earlier today that the Scotland international should go out on loan until the end of the season to find regular playing time.

He told PLZ Soccer: "He needs to go and play. It's as simple as that.

"I don't think he's going to do that at Celtic. If Edouard's fit and available, he's going to be number one and obviously they've signed this boy coming in for a lot of money as well.

"So for me I think the best solution for Celtic would be to loan him out for the last three or four months of the season.

"Go and let him get a certain amount of games and see if he can start banging goals in and then bring him back and make a decision over the summer."
