Celtic starlet Jack Aitchison makes instant impact on loan at Forest Green Rovers

It took Jack Aitchison just 10 minutes to announce himself at Forest Green Rovers as the Celtic starlet's loan got off to the perfect start.

The striker climbed off the bench to score with almost his first touch to seal a 1-0 win over Cambridge United.

Aitchison almost added a second in the dying minutes, firing another effort off the post as he went in search of a second.

In the end, a solitary goal was enough for the 19-year-old to make an instant impact for the League Two outfit.

Aitchison is the youngest goalscorer in Celtic's history, netting on his debut during a 7-0 win over Motherwell in 2016.

Since then he's made only a handful of appearance for the Hoops and has spent time on-loan at Alloa and Dumbarton in a bid for valuable first team experience.

Jake Hastie scores for Rotherham (Rex)

It seems he's already endeared himself to Rovers fans with @scroofy writing on Twitter: "When is he getting a statue?"

Aitchison wasn't the only young Scot to hit the goal trail in England on Saturday.

Rangers loanee Jake Hastie kicked off his season at Rotherham United with a goal in the South Yorkshire derby.

The winger whipped over a dangerous free kick that beat everyone and nestled in the corner to give his side the lead against Doncaster Rovers.

Hastie almost added an immediate assist to his tally but a dangerous cross to the far post was headed over.
