Viljami Sinisalo has welcomed incoming "competition" regarding his position, as speculation continues over Celtic's business this summer.

So far, the club has welcomed back Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while also signing Camilo Duran from Qarabag.

Despite this, Martin O'Neill has made it clear that a new goalkeeper will be required this summer, due to the retirement of Kasper Schmeichel to injury. "It is a massive football club, and competition is good," he said.

"I have always said why I came to this football club two years ago: the plan was for me to be that number one. I am delighted I got that chance. The bottom line is I have the shirt, and I intend to keep it.

"That is what I work towards every day. I understand there will always be competition, and competition brings the best out of players. That is my ambition, and it will never change."

On the confidence being Celtic's first-choice goalkeeper brings, Sinisalo continued, "Absolutely [ready for the challenge]. I have never intended on being anything else. I want to be the number one and get better as I do so.

"It is an amazing club to play for. To get that chance towards the end and get a real taste of it makes you want more. That is the right mentality to have. I think I will get better as the games go on.

"I am glad to have been given that opportunity, and I intend to keep it."
