Celtic star's relief after 'absolute sitter' in Dundee United win made up for with classy goal

Celtic midfielder David Turnbull was relieved to net for the Hoops against Dundee United - as it made up for his earlier miss.

The Scotland international hailing from Wishaw missed a glaring chance as the Parkhead side faced off against the Tangerines at Tannadice in Premiership action.

He tried to chest the ball beyond United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist from around three yards out, but somehow missed with the game at 1-0.

Turnbull made amends before half-time, latching onto Callum McGregor's pass to lift the ball high and then into the net. Celtic went on to win 3-0.

It was his eighth goal in all competitions this season and the former Motherwell star also has six assists.

Turnbull told Sky Sports: "Well, I missed one just before, an absolute sitter so I just tried to get on the end of it.

"Cal’s ball was a great ball and I saw the goalie coming out so I tried to get my toe on it and get it over him.

"I think I chested it into the net after that, I’m not too sure.

"I can’t remember (if he tried to add spin) to be honest. All I know is that I have a big cut on me knee from after it so I’m delighted with that.

"Whatever way it goes in, I’m always delighted to get a goal."
