Stephen Welsh won't be making a January transfer move as Celtic slam the door shut on any talks of a move.
The centre-back from Coatbridge established himself as a senior Hoops player last season after a loan at Morton.
Serie A club Udinese are keen on the defender and have started sounding Celtic out over the possibility of a move.
An initial loan with an option to buy has been booted out and a £1.6 million transfer has also been rejected, according to the Daily Record.
Neither move was entertained and Udinese are believed to be lining up another bid for the Coatbridge centre-back, according to reports in Italy.
But they will be met with the same response as Parkhead manager Ange Postecoglou wants Welsh to remain and to fight for one of his two central defensive positions.
Welsh signed a new four-year deal at the club in April 2021 and has played 19 games so far this season.
