Celtic star Ryan Christie out of Scottish Cup Final as horror clash ends midfielder's season

Neil Lennon has confirmed Ryan Christie won't be fit for the Scottish Cup final as he admitted the Celtic star's season is over.

Christie was rushed to hospital last Sunday after a sickening collision with Aberdeen's Dominic Ball during the Hoops' semi-final victory at Hampden.

Ball was sent off as the Cup holders eased into a final against Hearts with a 3-0 victory and Christie took to social media the following evening to show the extent of his injuries.

Celtic revealed days later that the former Dons loanee had suffered multiple facial fractures and was set to go under the knife on Thursday.

And now Lennon says the midfielder will not feature again this term.

He told Celtic TV : “Ryan has multiple fractures of the eye socket, jaw and cheekbone, so the prognosis isn’t good for the rest of the season really. He’s had a great season, he’s a huge player for us and it was a really horrendous collision.

“With it being multiple fractures, it’s going to take a bit more time.

“We just have to look after him as best as we can and get him back for the start of next season, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Jack Hendry has also joined Christie on the sidelines after a hamstring tear picked up during a reserve clash against Rangers.

The centre-back was subbed and will play no further part in the current campaign, Lennon has revealed.

He added: "Jack Hendry played in the reserve game and he's torn a hamstring.

"So he looks like he's going to be out for the rest of the season as well."
