Celtic star Odsonne Edouard named by Spanish press as one of the 'bargains' of the summer

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has been named as one of the 'bargains' of the summer by uber-popular Spanish football paper and website AS.

The paper has ran a special edition on which players they consider are well worth snapping up once the summer transfer window opens - and the Hoops star man is on their radar.

AS wrote: "For less than 25 million euros it is possible to find top players in the current football scene.

"The economic shortage looming in the face of the coronavirus crisis will have to be compensated in the market with players who are ending their contracts or coming out on the cheap or the young international players who have excelled in their leagues".

And in respect of the 22-year-old - who they have slapped a €13.5m transfer tag on - AS said: "He dazzled as France's center forward in lower categories, then hit a downturn and came to Scotland to do what he knows best, scoring goals of all kinds.

"Impressive 21 goals this season. Very powerful".

Edouard joins a host of names on the list, including veteran Man City midfielder David Silva, Dortmund midfielder Mario Götze, Napoli winger José Callejón and Chelsea's Willian.

Not a bad crop to contend with.
