Celtic star Kris Ajer hailed in Norway after heroic draw with Spain

Celtic defender Kris Ajer was part of the Norway team which took a heroic draw at home to Spain.

While the Nordic nation fell behind to a Saul Niguez strike, Bournemouth striker Joshua King's last-gasp penalty was enough to earn a valuable point.

Qualification is still not in Norway's hands, as even if they win all of their remaining games they still need Sweden and Romania to slip up.

Last night saw the 21-year-old Celtic man return to the starting XI, and here's how he rated with the Norwegian media.

Ajer received a 7/10 mark from Nettavisen who said: "Ajer returned to the Norwegian national team on Saturday after having to miss the last commitments through injury.

"The Celtic stopper delivered a good match for Norway and was pretty much in control when he was challenged by the Spanish stars.

"A good game by Ajer."

Newspaper Dagbladet was impressed with the Celtic man's performance, aside from one potential error.

They wrote: "Strong and uncompromising. Directed the others and has evolved to become a commander of the Norwegian defence.

"But why did he turn his back on Saul Niguez for the goal to make it 1-0?"

In their player ratings, Verdens Gang gave Ajer a 6/10 and wrote: "Back in the squad after being injured for the previous camp, and plugged straight back in.

"With Tore Reginiussen suffering with a shoulder injury and not even on the bench, his selection was relatively obvious.

"A good first half where he made his presence known both in his own and the opponent's box and he was daring enough to play out from the back, sometimes perhaps a little too daring."

Viewers of TV2 gave Ajer an 8/10, but the station's website awarded him a seven: "Back again in the central defense for Norway after he was injured for the last camp, he delivered a solid international match."
