Celtic star David Turnbull dreaming of Old Firm debut after watching on while at Motherwell

Celtic midfielder David Turnbull admits it would be the "highlight of my career so far" to be involved in the Old Firm clash this weekend.

The Wishaw star made the switch from Motherwell this summer and admits he would always watch the Hoops clash with Rangers during his days at The Steelmen.

The former Coltness High pupil has broken into Neil Lennon's first-team plans and hopes to be given his chance at Parkhead this weekend.

"I’m absolutely buzzing for it," he told the Celtic View.

"It’s one of the biggest games in the world and I know full well how big a game it is, having grown up in Scotland.

"Even though I was at Motherwell, I still watched all those games. To be part of that will be a highlight of my career so far, and I’d love to be involved.

I’m more than ready to step in, and whenever the gaffer calls on me, I’ll be delighted to do a job and get in about it.

Even to be part of it is brilliant and I’m always excited to show the fans what I can do.

Turnbull admits he has had to adjust quickly to a new style of play since swapping Fir Park for Celtic Park.

He added: "At Motherwell, I wasn't coming up against opposition teams sitting in against us like that [in this his first start against St Johnstone] and it's made me more aware of trying to make thee most of any wee windows where I can make that killer pass, shot or cross.

"If teams are standing off enough then I can always shoot from distance and the manager and my teammates all back me in doing that.

"We're always told if we get a chance to shoot from outside the box to pull the trigger."
