Celtic star committed handball as pundits agree with Motherwell over penalty call

Pundits James McFadden and Richard Foster both believe Motherwell were wrongly denied a penalty in yesterday's meeting with Celtic.

Hoops left-back Boli Bolingoli appeared to handle the ball inside the box after a battle with Motherwell's Kevin Van Veen. Nothing was given, much to the Steelmen's frustration.

Goals from Jota and Fir Park academy graduate David Turnbull sealed a 2-0 Premiership victory for Celtic. 'Well hero McFadden believes his side former side were wronged.

"When you play against Celtic you need a bit of luck, you need decisions to go your way," McFadden said on Sportscene. "It's clearly a penalty and the referee and assistant referee have missed it.

"I thought Motherwell started well but they won't be judged on performances and results against Celtic. It's all about moving on."

Fellow pundit Foster agrees. The Partick Thistle full-back reckons it was an easy decision to spot.

"It's a penalty," said Foster. "The ball is up, his arm is up above his shoulder. It definitely hits his arm and it alters the way the ball moves.

"It's a definite penalty, and Motherwell can feel aggrieved to not get it.

"I actually think he throws his arm out towards the ball. Van Veen has taken the ball past him, it hits his hand and the linesman has got to see it, if not the referee."
