Celtic star Christopher Jullien back in Glasgow after 'failing to agree personal terms' with Schalke

Christopher Jullien has returned to Glasgow after failing to come to an agreement over personal terms with Schalke following medical checks, according to a report.

The Frenchman signed for the Hoops in 2019 from French side Toulouse and enjoyed a fine first season at Parkhead, netting the winner in the League Cup final against Rangers and eventually claiming title glory when the 2019/20 term was curtailed due to Covid. His second term was far from ideal though as the Hoops collapsed under Neil Lennon and he injured himself 18 months ago against Dundee United.

He obnoxiously collided with the post in a match with the Tangerines at Celtic Park and has barely kicked a competitive ball in anger since that game, although Jullien has featured in youth team matches and returned for pre-season training at Lennoxtown earlier this week. It was reported across Wednesday and early Thursday morning though that a move to Germany was on the cards.

However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed there has been no agreement on terms between the player and club and Celtic will now look to find a solution by talking to other interested parties.

He tweeted: "No agreement between Chris Jullien and Schalke 04 on personal terms after the medical tests yesterday. He already came back to Glasgow.

"Celtic will now negotiate with other clubs to find a solution, deal still open."

Boss Ange Postecoglou has already signed goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist and defender Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer with left-back Alexandro Bernabei signing on the dotted line this morning.

Winger Jota expected to complete his return to Parkhead shortly.
