Celtic star Boli Bolingoli sends Lazio a warning ahead of Europa League crunch

Confident Boli Bolingoli has set his sights on Lazio and insisted three points from the Italian giants on Thursday night can pave the way for Celtic to win their Europa League group.

The Belgian defender knows a top two finish is enough to secure a place in the knock out stages but Bolingoli is adamant Neil Lennon’s men are targeting a top place finish after getting off to a storming start by securing four points from Rennes and Cluj in the first two games.

They’ll face arguably their toughest test on Thursday when the Serie A superstars arrive on their doorstep but Bolingoli has no doubt Celtic can take the scintillating form they showed in hitting Ross County for six at the weekend into the Europa League clash with the Italians.

He said: “The confidence is there, there is no pressure in the team and we are doing good now at the moment.

Lazio is a big club, we just have to prepare properly.

‘We are playing at home and that is also to our advantage.

‘It will be good for us to get some points here at home against a team as strong as Lazio and remain number one in the group before going to Italy.

‘It’s going to be a tough game, but we go into it with a lot of confidence.

‘The objective if you want to go far in the competition is to win the group.

‘So we go into every game to win and to be number one.

‘We’re not playing in the Europa League to be the number two or finish last.

‘We will give everything to finish in first place.’

Bolingoli also believes the title race will go to the wire and has every confidence in his team’s ability to handle the pressure.

He said: “We are just looking at our games. We lost the game at Livingston and that was a pity, but we just do your job.

“What Rangers are doing is good, they are doing well. Good for them.

“But we will just stay focused on our games until the end of the season.

“Only then we will see who is going to be the champions.”
