Celtic slapped with UEFA fine after 'improper conduct' infringement in Lille clash

Celtic have been fined €7,000 by UEFA for an incident relating to last month's Europa League tie at Lille.

The Scottish Premiership champions have been charged under Article 15(4) of the governing body for European football's rules, citing "improper conduct of the team".

Neil Lennon's side led 2-0 at half-time against the Ligue 1 side through two Mohamed Elyounoussi strikes but Mehmet Celik and Nanitamo Ikone managed to rescue a point for the home side.

A total of five Celtic players were carded in the continental clash, with Scott Bain, Diego Laxalt, Moi Elyounoussi, Olivier Ntcham and Albian Ajeti all finding their way into North Macedonian referee Aleksandar Stavrev's book.

It comes just a week after Rangers were handed a sanction for issues relating to stewarding against their epic playoff qualifier against Galatasaray.

The Ibrox club were handed a €5,000 charge under UEFA's Return to Play rules as Scott Arfield and James Tavernier downed the Turkish giants 2-1.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has received a suspended one-match ban for causing a delayed start to his side's tie against Royal Antwerp. Tottenham were also fined €25,000 for the infringement, plus an extra €3,000 for an unrelated rule breach.
