Celtic shown potential Moi Elyounoussi and Kristoffer Ajer precedent as Bundesliga giants fight quarantine order

A storm is brewing in Germany over the isolation order dished out to Norway's international stars.

The chaos which engulfed Lars Lagerback's side over the weekend ended with players being allowed to return to their clubs on the condition they complete 10 days isolation.

It follows defender Omar Elabdellaoui's positive Covid-19 test which has left the Norwegians' Nations League clash with Romania in serious doubt.

The Norwegian Government blocked the national team from travelling to Bucharest and a new squad consisting entirely of overseas-based players is now being scrambled together to play the match later this week.

The knock-on effects have been felt in Scotland with uncertainty surrounding Celtic stars Mohamed Elyounoussi and Kristoffer Ajer.

It's currently unclear whether the pair will miss Saturday's visit to Hibs as the final decision on the whether the quarantine is implemented rests with the Scottish health authorities.

There's a similar story unfolding in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, Hertha Berlin keeper Rune Jarstein and RB Leipzig's Alexander Sorloth.

According to reports in Germany, the three clubs are prepared to fight for an exemption.

Dortmund are confident Haaland is subject only to German law on German soil, and insist he is clear to resume playing if he returns a third negative coronavirus test, having already registered two.

Leipzig's stance is similar, maintaining Sorloth will undergo testing amid dialogue with local health authorities.

Additionally, a Hertha spokesperson said: "...the health department responsible for us will be in charge and that Rune will be able to start training after two negative test results towards the end of the week."

On Sunday night, Record Sport told how Celtic were awaiting clarity over Elyounoussi and Ajer.

The Parkhead duo travelled back to Glasgow earlier that day after the Norway squad was granted permission to depart Oslo.
