Celtic shop vandalised amid chaotic scenes in Glasgow following Rangers title win

A Celtic Store in Glasgow city centre was vandalised yesterday and windows were smashed during a chaotic night in the city.

Police have launched a probe after the windows of the Argyle Street store were smashed at around 8pm last night.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and police have not said who is responsible for the damage.

However, the vandalism took place during a chaotic night in the city which saw large groups gathering to celebrate following Rangers league title win.

Thousands of supporters descended onto George Square despite a warning from Police Scotland not to gather in large crowds after Celtic failed to beat Dundee United, handing Rangers the Scottish Premiership title.

Rivals Celtic had their Argyle Street shop, which sells club merchandise, vandalised by rampaging yobs and police say their enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Celtic Football Club said: "This is disgusting, pathetic vandalism.

"The matter has been reported to Police Scotland and hopefully those responsible are identified. We are also in dialogue with police to ensure that our premises receive an ongoing adequate level of safety and security".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8pm on Sunday, March 7, police received report of vandalism at a premises on Argyle Street in Glasgow.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
