Celtic sent Europa League warning as AC Milan boss reveals the 'lucky' claim he doesn't buy into

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli plans to carry their brilliant Serie A form into Europe.

The Europa League group stage gets underway on Thursday as Celtic host the Italian side.

Milan have started their campaign on fire with four wins from four in the league, including a derby win over rivals Inter at the weekend.

And Pioli insists his men won't take their foot off the gas against Neil Lennon's side as Europe remains a top priority.

He told the Daily Record: "We are AC Milan and it is only right that we face every match and competition with seriousness and ambition to win it.

"We are not in a position to choose one or the other.

"We need to use the squad in both competitions, but I will always try and pick my best team for a single match.

"Europe is AC Milan's garden.

"Yes, we are in the European competition that is the least important, but we are aiming to win the trophy. I think we are in a very balanced group. People said we got a lucky draw, I don't buy into that.

"So I will stress to my players the importance of getting off to a good start in Glasgow against Celtic."
