Celtic sent Champions League warning as KR Reykjavik star makes 'strange times' claim

KR Reykjavik's Pablo Punyed insists anything can happen in their Champions League clash against Celtic next week.

The odds are stacked against the Icelandic side as they face the Hoops at Parkhead on Tuesday in a one-off qualifier.

It will be Neil Lennon's first match in over a week after their Premiership fixtures against St Mirren and Aberdeen were called off due to Boli Bolngoli's quarantine breach.

And El Salvador Punyed belives his side could cause an upset and catch out Celtic in these "strange times".

He told the Daily Record: "Of course it's a difficult game for us, but it's the Champions League and there aren't any easy games.

"We have to play Celtic in a one-off game in Scotland in front of an empty stadium.

"But I think this completely changes the way the game is played. We don't have to worry about keeping it tight for the home leg or not conceding too many goals away from home.

"The entire tactical set-up of the match changes because it is a one-off tie. I think it could be a close, nervous match.

"KR have played Celtic before and I played against them for Stjarnan. They are a very well-known club in Iceland.

"We will have a lot of respect for them, but we certainly don't fear them.

"In these strange times, odd things happen in football too. Many approaches to games don't necessarily work as well and anything can happen in a one-off game."
