Celtic send message after Liverpool trophy parade incident

Celtic have released a statement following a tragic incident at Liverpool's trophy parade last night. 

Supporters gathered in the city to celebrate their club's recent English Premier League triumph. However, in several videos circulating on social media, a car appeared to plough into a number of fans. 

Liverpool released a statement shortly after the incident. It read: "We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street, which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident.

"We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident."

Celtic soon responded to events. A brief club statement read: "Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with Liverpool Football Club, all those people affected and the city of Liverpool following this evening's tragic incident."

It was later confirmed that a 53-year-old white British man had been arrested, and that several people were taken to hospital for treatment.
