Celtic's Odsonne Edouard to spark Serie A bidding war as French striker tops transfer shortlists

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is set to be at the centre of a summer bidding war as clubs in England and Italy chase his signature.

The Frenchman will have just 12 months left on his contract at the end of the season amid rumours the Hoops could seek to part with one of their star assets to help fund their expected summer rebuild.

The 23-year-old has no shortage of suitors with Milan and Roma among the continental sides keeping track of his progress.

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon said attempted had been made to discuss a new deal with the forward and defender Kristoffer Ajer - who is also out of contract at the end of next season - but to no avail.

Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb says the San Siro giants will make the recruitment of a striker a priority in the summer with 39-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic and 34-year-old Mario Mandzukic struggling with injury concerns.

Roma meanwhile are desperate for a replacement for Bosnian target man Edin Dzeko, who is tipped to leave the giallorossi at the end of the campaign.

However, the Serie A duo face competition from English clubs Arsenal and Leicester City, according to reports in Italy.

Current Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers brought Edouard to Celtic from Paris Saint Germain on an initial loan deal in 2017 before signing him permanently for a club record fee a year later.

Rodgers is understood to be a long-term admirer of the forward - who notched his 19th goal of the season with the winner against Aberdeen - but Gunners' boss Mikel Arteta remains interested in taking him to the Emirates.

Arsenal signed Kieran Tierney from Celtic in 2019 for a reported £25 million fee and could return to bolster their attacking options.
