Celtic are set for a Moussa Dembele transfer windfall with Manchester United increasingly confident they will seal a £60m deal for the striker - according to a report.
The Daily Star claim the Old Trafford hierarchy believe a deal for Lyon's star man is edging closer after identifying him as a long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
Dembele has been chased by a host of clubs with United's Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham also keeping close tabs on the former France U21 star.
And any move away from his homeland is good news for Celtic who inserted a 10 per cent sell-on clause when Dembele joined Lyon in a £19.8m deal back in 2018.
United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is determined to move quickly with the French side missing out on Europe after their season was called.
The Ligue 1 club are facing up to a new financial reality because of the effects of Covid-19, with president Jean-Michel Aulas admitting he may be forced to sell.
He said: “I am going to do everything to keep the players but those who are programmed to play in Europe could want to go elsewhere because we don’t have European football.”
Every club in the world will have to adjust their budget in the coming months but United remain confident of being able to strengthen their squad.
