Celtic's Moussa Dembele cash windfall hopes suffer blow as Lyon make emphatic transfer claim

A potential Celtic jackpot from the sale of Lyon striker Moussa Dembele has taken a blow after boss Rudi Garcia casted doubt on the notion the Frenchman will leave this summer.

After departing the Scottish Premiership winners two years ago, the Hoops are due to receive 10 per cent of any fee the Ligue 1 club get for Dembele through a sell-on clause.

With Manchester United and Chelsea both strongly linked with huge £50 million moves for the French ace, Celtic would be looking at landing a bonus windfall if and when the former Fulham striker returns to England.

However, ambitious Lyon are in no rush to sell Dembele, who still has three years left of his contract, or team mate Houssem Aouar, who has been linked with a big money move to Manchester City.

Garcia said: "Firstly, I can categorically state we have not received any offers for Moussa Dembele.

"His position remains the same, along with Houssem Aouar. I remain very hopeful that both players will stay at the club and will be with us next season.

"There are a lot of things that come into play with both of them, such as the will of the players. But at this moment, there has been no offers."

Dembele netted 50 goals for Celtic in just 69 starts during his two years at Parkhead and has carried that form on to his return to his homeland.
