Celtic’s Jeremy Toljan 'wanted' by Napoli but there could be a problem

Jeremy Toljan is being eyed for a summer transfer by Serie A big hitters Napoli, according to reports in Italy.

The Italian club previously wanted the on-loan Celtic full-back when he was at Hoffenheim.

But the German moved to Borussia Dortmund instead.

Now Napoli are poised to reignite their interest – but there is one doubt in their minds.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the side sitting second in Serie A feel Toljan ’s fitness could be a problem.

They write: "It is the aspect which will be evaluated. If his physical level is ideal, all that is missing is to understand the state of his fitness.”

Toljan, signed by Brendan Rodgers in January as cover for Kieran Tierney, has made 12 appearances under the former manager and then Neil Lennon .

Celtic icon Billy McNeill's funeral will take place on May 3rd with march past club ground

But he has not played since March 31, the 2-1 win over Rangers at Celtic Park.

His loan spell is set to end at the end of the summer and there has been no suggestion Celtic will be looking to extend it.

Toljan is under contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2022.
