Celtic's Black Lives Matter stance fills me with pride says Christopher Jullien

Christopher Jullien admits he was proud to be part of the Black Lives Matter protest with his Parkhead pals.

The Celtic squad have taken a knee in both of their pre-season friendlies in France so far and will do so again against PSG on Tuesday evening.

Jullien insisted there is still a lot of work to be done to get rid of racism throughout the world and he believes the powerful image on pitches all over the planet can help make progress.

He said: “You see it happening all over the world. We spoke as players and a staff before the games and said were going to be part of it.

“We wanted to show we are against racism and show we are behind this issue.

“It was a proud moment for me to do that alongside my team-mates and staff.

“It’s such an important issue. It’s about educating people all around the world and highlighting the situation.

“If by doing this we can make people understand then maybe it can make a difference eventually.”

Rivals Rangers have also taken a stance after their black players were targeted in recent days.

Jullien believes it’s a problem all over the globe – which is why it’s important to stand up to the bigots to show it’s unacceptable.

He said: “There is racism all over the world. We have to try our best to expose it to get rid of it once and for all.

“There’s a lot of people who just say the phrase, ‘Black Lives Matter’, but it’s about what they do in their house and in their lives.

“We have to do our best to say out loud that it’s unacceptable and hopefully there can be progress made.

“We know it is not going to change overnight but that is why we continue to speak up.”
