Celtic star Alistair Johnston was elbowed in the face playing for Canada as his country's Gold Cup tie with nine-man El Salvador descended into chaos.
The Hoops full back was assaulted by Jairo Henríquez deep into first half injury time and the Colorado Springs Switchbacks player was sent off for the attack - joining teammate Santos Ortíz, who had already been dismissed.
El Salvador even had their physio shown a straight red card in the resulting melee, but Johnston was able to reappear after half time before being subbed in the second half as Canada got through to the quarter finals in a 2-0 win.

Meanwhile, Celtic colleague Luis Palma insisted his goal celebration for Honduras was in direct response to critics of the national team after they defeated former Rangers manager Dick Advocaat's Curacao.
The winger was only a sub, but came off the bench to net in a 2-1 win before celebrating.
And Palma - who will return to Celtic after an unsuccessful loan spell at Olympiacos - said: "My celebration was a response to what people have said about this team.
"We have had to accept our criticism, but please be aware we are all very professional and are desperate to win.
"It was a great performance by us. Now we play Panama next and that's a tough match for us."
