Celtic's Adam Montgomery enjoys perfect start to loan as Livingston thrash Kelty

Celtic's Adam Montgomery enjoyed a perfect start to his loan spell at Livingston as they thrashed Kelty Hearts 6-0 this afternoon.

David Martindale's men welcomed the League One outfit to West Lothian in their final Premier Sports Cup group stage clash.

Montgomery, who joined Livi on a season-long loan from Celtic just yesterday, got the nod at left-back for his side. And it didn't take him long to make an impact.

Indeed, with just 26 minutes on the clock, the 23-year-old found the back of the net.

Livi were already a goal ahead thanks to Andy Winter's opening-minute strike, although Montgomery doubled their lead, slotting home from close range after Graham Carey slipped him in following a smart move.

Despite their victory today, his team are not guaranteed a place in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup, and will have to wait until tomorrow's fixtures pan out to discover their fate.

Livi kick off their league campaign next weekend, when they travel to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Montgomery will be keen to feature after making a storming start to his loan spell.

The former Scotland under-21 international spent the second half of last season on loan at Queen's Park, where he made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Championship side.
