Celtic rumoured to be 'chasing' ex-Livingston defender Ciaron Brown

Celtic are rumoured to be eyeing former Livingston defender Ciaron Brown as the Hoops hierarchy look to begin a summer of serious surgery on the first-team.

The 23-year-old centre-back impressed whilst on-loan at Livi in the first-half of the season, before returning to parent club Cardiff City during the January transfer window.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy has utilised Brown both centrally, and at left-back, throughout the second-half of the campaign with the Northern Ireland international making 12 appearances for the English Championship side, including during last weekend's 1-1 draw with Rotherham.

Despite the fact the Hoops are still looking to appoint a new manager, TEAMtalk are reporting that Belgian side Oostende and Celtic are hoping to secure Brown's signature on a pre-contract deal, with his current terms expiring this summer.

Celtic are known to be in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer with Kristoffer Ajer's long-term future in doubt, whilst both Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny will most likely return to their respective parent clubs following underwhelming spells on-loan in Glasgow.
