Celtic rival Rangers for '£5m-rated' QPR star as Neil Lennon prepares to play waiting game

Celtic are reportedly planning a move for QPR midfielder Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The 22-year-old who impressed in the English Championship last season is rated at £5million, but Neil Lennon is hoping to land the Nigerian-born player for free.

Osayi-Samuel is out of contract next summer and can be signed on a pre-contract in January.

And according to the Scottish Sun, that's an avenue Celtic are willing to go down.

The report claims Hoops recruitment chief and former Loftus Road scout Gary Penrice is behind the move after helping bring Osayi-Samuel to QPR from Blackpool.

But Celtic could face competition from rivals Rangers as reports down south suggested Steve Gerrard is looking at the playmaker on Wednesday.

The Ibrox club are keen on adding another midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

QPR accepted a £4.7m bid from Brugge for Osayi-Samuel earlier this summer, but the player turned down the Belgians.

He's yet to sign a contract extension with QPR and could leave for nothing in 12 months time.
