Celtic reveal 'no access' for supporters against Ferencvaros as last gasp talks fail

Regretful Celtic have told supporters they will not be allowed to attend Thursday night's clash with Ferenvcaros.

The Parkhead side were engaged in last-gasp talks with their Hungarian rivals as UK vaccine passports are now being accepted in the EU.

But Ferencvaros decided against an 11th-hour green light for Celtic fans to travel to the city and enter the Groupama Stadium for Thursday's crunch Europa League tussle.

Highly regarded Celtic SLO John Paul Taylor has been keeping supporters up to date but bad news arrived on Wednesday morning that fans would be locked out in Budapest.

A brief statement from the club read: "Further to discussions with Ferencvaros late last night and early this morning, regrettably we have to update that we have been informed that there will be no access for #CelticFC supporters for #FERCEL in Budapest."

Celtic fans who planned to travel will not be granted access with many holding off plans due to the uncertainty surrounding accessing the stadium.

Ange Postecogolou 's side know a win will guarantee them European knockout football if they defeat Ferencvaros for the second time in a fortnight.
