Celtic have released a stinging statement condemning racial abuse of Kyogo Furuhashi documented on social media.
The sickening taunts and gestures towards the Parkhead striker's Japanese background, allegedly made by a small number of Rangers fans on their way to their match against Ross County, were first discovered around Sunday lunchtime and it's understood the Ibrox club are looking into the incident.
Furuhashi, who arrived at Parkhead from Vissel Kobe this summer, has quickly become a cult figure in Glasgow's east end after scoring six goals in his first seven games under Ange Postecoglou.
And his club have stood behind him, insisting Furuhashi will receive their full support and calling on Scottish football to stamp out racial bigotry.
A short Celtic statement released on social media read: "If reports are accurate then such sickening and pathetic racist behaviour directed towards Kyogo Furuhashi deserves absolute condemnation.
"Unfortunately, a number of Celtic players in recent years have suffered similar racist abuse.
"As a club open to all, we stand firmly against racism in all its forms and we will give Kyogo our full support.
"All stakeholders must work together in tackling all forms of bigotry."
