Celtic reportedly weighing up loan move for Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes

Celtic are reportedly weighing up a loan move for Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes.

The Parkhead club are looking to bring in a forward as backup to Odsonne Edouard.

And the Scottish Sun claim the Sheffield Wednesday striker is high on Neil Lennon's Celtic wishlist for a potential move north of the border.

The 29-year-old has only netted three times in nine appearances with all his goals coming in last weekend's 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

And he's battling for regular game time with the Owls alongside former Celtic target Steven Fletcher who is enjoying one of his best seasons south of the border.

Fletcher has netted 12 times already this season leaving Rhodes on the outside looking in. Wigan are also reportedly keen on the striker.

Lennon, who has been linked with Andraz Sporar and Sebastian Andersson, admits the Premiership champions could be ready to do business when the window opens.

The Hoops boss has had to deal with injuries to Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Bayo throughout the season with Lewis Morgan leading the line when Edouard was absent.

Speaking after the win against Aberdeen, he said: "It’s difficult to get the right quality in January but if you can strengthen, if you think it will make you better and have the funds, then it makes perfect sense.

“And doing it in January means you get them in the building for a few months before the start of next season.”
