Celtic reportedly reject bids for Newcastle target Kristoffer Ajer amid Southampton's Lemina stance

Here is your 4am Newcastle United digest.

Celtic reportedly reject two Kristoffer Ajer bids

Newcastle United target Kristoffer Ajer is becoming unhappy at Celtic as his hopes of a move away from Glasgow this summer are in jeopardy.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim the 23-year-old Norway international has been the subject of £10 million bids from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and Premier League new boys Norwich City so far this summer, both of which were rejected by Celtic.

Ajer has one year left on his current deal at Parkhead and has been monitored by the Magpies.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's stance on Mario Lemina transfer amid Newcastle United interest

Ralph Hasenhuttl has not ruled out the prospect of Newcastle United transfer target Mario Lemina returning to the fold at Southampton next season.

As ChronicleLive reported on Thursday, the Magpies head of recruitment Steve Nickson has monitored the Gabon international ahead of a potential summer move.

Lemina spent last season on loan with Fulham, and the 27-year-old is considered by many to be surplus to requirements at St Mary's Stadium.

Hasenhuttl previously told Hampshire Live : "We are following all of our loan players and we have reports on them

"With some, we are consistently in contact and we have our staff members doing this all the time.

"It is always helpful if somebody goes somewhere and performs quite well. I think his season so far, although he has played for a relegated team, was not the worst, definitely.

“He had some very good games and I saw the goal he scored against Liverpool. It was definitely for him a good step back in the Premier League.

"In the last game he played centre-back and this was interesting to see.”

He added: “We are following and then we will find a decision this summer."

Newcastle United defender Emil Krafth asked for clarification on his future

Emil Krafth has indicated he wants to stay at Newcastle United next season - providing the Magpies want to stick with him.

The Sweden international full-back is preparing for Sweden's European Championship last 16 tie against Ukraine next week and is working hard during the major tournament.

After helping Sweden top their group, with a draw against Spain and wins over Slovakia and Poland, Krafth is now looking forward to a crack at reaching the quarter-finals and a potential date with England or Germany.

But when asked by Swedish publication Fotbollskanalen about his future, Krafth said: "I can assume I will stay.

"I have two years left on my contract and as it looks now, I am staying 100 per cent.

"Then you know that strange things can happen overnight when it comes to football. But I am thriving at the club and in the city.

"I really want to stay."
