Celtic reduced capacity fan return plan latest ahead of Ange Postecoglou Parkhead opener

Celtic are urging fans to sign up for tickets ahead of the return of fans to "reduced capacity" stadiums.

The fixtures have been released for the SPFL 2021/22 campaign ahead of Ange Postecoglou 's debut campaign as boss.

Saturday, July 31 was always circled in the calendar for fans of all clubs as the Premiership kicks off with an away trip to Hearts opening the campaign.

There will then be back-to-back games at Celtic Park against St Mirren and Dundee.

As the club step up their behind the scenes planning, a statement from the club has asked fans register to "help us to understand the desired requirements for each Season Ticket holder."

The Celtic statement read: "As we approach the start of the 2021/22 campaign, we are excited to be planning for the return of supporters to Celtic Park.

"It’s been well over a year since we’ve had you at Paradise, and we are now working hard behind the scenes to welcome you back safely and ensure we are fan-ready for reduced capacity matches.

"Fans can register individually or in groups of up to six people, adhering to current social distancing protocols, and all members of each group must have renewed their Season Ticket for the forthcoming season."

There was a return to normality for Scotland supporters as they kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign against Czech Republic.

A crowd of 12,000 – although inexplicably considering fans have been starved of live action the official attendance was announced as just 9847 – was agreed by the Scottish Government for games at Hampden during the Euros for the “gateway event”.

If Glasgow is still in Level 2 next month only 500 fans would be allowed into Parkhead, and 2000 in low-infection areas.

A drop to Level 1 would double that number with rules stating “outdoor seated stadiums and events can open with a maximum capacity of 1000 people”.

That still wouldn’t satisfy the demand and the same applies to Level 0 which would allow the 2000 fans – although clubs can apply for an exemption – and only when restrictions are scrapped entirely and life returns to normal will clubs be able to see a full house again.
