Celtic receive Lazio ticket boost as home fans may get second chance for sold-out clash

Celtic fans may get a second chance to purchase tickets for the Europa League game with Lazio, as the Italian club admit they're struggling to sell their allocation.

The Serie A side are in Glasgow in two weeks time for the third match in the group, with Celtic currently top on four points.

Home tickets for the match have already sold out, but with Lazio struggling to sell their allocation a new batch may be released.

"There's still plenty of availability for the match at Celtic Park ," Lazio marketing director Marco Canigiani said on Lazio Style Radio.

"At least 600-700 tickets are available."

Under UEFA regulations, home clubs must make at least 5 per cent of tickets available to visiting fans, giving Lazio an allocation of around 3,000.

However, if the away club cannot sell its allocation then they can return any remaining tickets, without having to pay for them, as long as they do so at least seven days before the match.

Those tickets can then be reallocated to home fans as long as proper segregation is in place.

That means Lazio have until next Thursday to shift the rest of their tickets, or be forced to pay for their entire allocation whether it's sold out or not.

As a result, the Italians are likely to return a significant number of briefs, which can then be sold to Celtic fans.
