Celtic receive huge ticket allocation for Lazio Europa League showdown in Rome

Celtic are poised to be backed by a massive away support when they travel to face Lazio in Rome.

Neil Lennon’s side take on Biancocelesti in Italy in the second part of a Europa League double-header that will go a long way to deciding the Hoops’ fate.

Celtic first play Simeone Inzaghi’s men at Celtic Park on Thursday, October 24 before travelling to the Italian capital two weeks later on November 11.

And they will be backed by up to 9,000 fans after being handed a huge allocation by the Serie A giants – despite UEFA’s minimum requirement being five per cent unless police deem it a high-risk fixture.

The Stadio Olimpico has a capacity of more than 70,000 but Lazio, sitting sixth in the Italian top flight, are looking at an attendance that will not get near filling the stadium.

Celtic supporters liason officer John Paul Taylor revealed on Monday Celtic will receive 9,000 tickets, with all of them likely to be snapped up.

Group E leaders Celtic can all but secure their progress into the knockout stages with favourable results against Lazio.

The Scottish champions are already on four points after just two games while Lazio are third with only three.
