Celtic put staff in furlough and vow they'll receive 100 per cent of wage

Celtic have placed a section of their non-playing staff in furlough - and the club vows they'll recieve 100 per cent of their wage.

Neil Lennon conceded players and staff might have to take wage cuts as the financial uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic rumbles on.

A number of clubs have opted to use the government scheme that pays up to 80 per cent of wages.

And Celtic have confirmed that staff, including youth coaches, will now enter the scheme with the Parkhead side making up the remaining 20 per cent to ensure employees receive their full pay.

A spokeperson said: "Like many organisations, due to the unprecedented challenges currently being faced, Celtic will be using the government job retention scheme available, in relation to a number of colleagues.

"At this time, Celtic will ensure that each colleague on this scheme will receive 100 per cent salary, with all other conditions and benefits remaining unchanged.

"Other colleagues will continue to work as normal to cover the club’s ongoing operational requirements.

"Celtic would like to sincerely thank each and every member of staff for all their continued efforts and their tremendous support during such a difficult time for everyone."
