Celtic 'make loan approach' for €12m out-of-favour Premier League striker
It comes after the Parkhead club reportedly had a £5.2million offer accepted for Hammarby's Sebastian Tounekti.
The Tunisian internationalist is a long-term target and will sign a four-year deal in Glasgow's east end.
Celtic have also made a loan approach to sign Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his frontline before the close of business at 11pm.
Speaking on incomings after his side's goalless draw with Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday, Rodgers said: "We've had a period of time, so we've had a long time to reinforce the squad and listen, I'm hopeful that we can do that, and get it over the line.
"The game is about the quality of your players. You can take the game to different levels based on your players. But it's my responsibility to try and maximise what I can get out of the players that will be here.
"Hopefully, we can get that competition in the team and reinvigorate some of the players that have been here for a long time. Because, as you say, they've been here for four years, guys like Daizen (Maeda), they need competition."
