Celtic protest messages vanish from Parkhead's ring of steel as clean-up operation bags up 'sack the board' cries

Messages fixed to temporary fencing outside Celtic Park have been removed within hours as fans continue to voice their discontent with the governance of the club.

In the wake of another poor result under manager Neil Lennon, fans once again took to the surroundings of the stadium to voice their displeasure.

Supporters were left furious after the 1-1 draw against St Johnstone, with some breaking a huge police line to charge the departing team bus.

That continued into Monday when a small number of Hoops diehards attached messages written on banners and green and white scarves, such as the familiar "sack the board" refrain from the 1990s.

But those pleas were only visible for a number of hours before staff removed them from view.

The police presence had disappeared from Parkhead but so had any remaining messages of discontent by late on Monday afternoon.

An employee was also seen gathering up the articles into a plastic bag in an image that will surely rankle with supporters.

Last week ultras group the Green Brigade took to the new fencing to display a banner illustrating an alleged disconnect between Celtic power-brokers Peter Lawwell and Dermot Desmond with the wider support.

That followed a previous banner that read: "Time to go, Neil."

The club are 13 points behind Rangers in the race for the Scottish Premiership and have won just two of their last 12 matches.
