Celtic pre-season friendlies in full including Scott Sinclair return as new era under Ange Postecoglou begins

It hasn't been an easy couple of months for Celtic with the club finding their way through a huge period of transition.

The Parkhead side enter a new chapter this season under Ange Postecoglou and his first match in charge is now only days away.

However, a positive first week in the hot seat saw the Australian make a good impression amongst supporters and even tie up his first pieces of transfer business by retaining Leigh Griffiths and signing Osaze Urhoghide.

Now, attention turns to on-field matters as we take a look at the the Hoops' five pre-season friendlies coming up.

Sheffield Wednesday (away)

New boss Postecoglou will see his side in action for the first time at the Wales training camp on Wednesday against Sheffield Wednesday.

The away fixture could see a debut for new man Urhoghide against his old club, with Celtic still waiting on a number of players returning to the squad from Scotland international duty.

It will be the first time the players take to the field since last season's finale with Hibernian on May 15.

The friendly may be viewed as a starting exercise for the new manager's rebuild, and he will be more eager than anybody to finally coach his men from the sidelines.

The game kicks off at 3pm on July 7.

Charlton Athletic (away)

The second of all five English opponents Celtic will face this summer is Charlton Athletic.

Th Hoops take on the League One side just three days after their opening pre-season counter and again the match is likely to see a rotated use of the squad.

It will be the first game of pre-season for Nigel Adkins' men when the sides meet on July 10.

Kick-off for this one will also be at 3pm.

Bristol City (away)

Next up for Celtic is an evening kick-off, this time against Bristol City on Wednesday, July 14.

It may only be less than two weeks away, but Postecoglou's squad might have a much different look come this friendly.

The English Championship side avoided relegation last season after finishing 17th in the league, but the last of a poor run of results was the last time Nigel Pearson's men took to the field.

The game will kick off at 7.45pm at the Ashton Gate Stadium.

Preston North End (home)

A hugely anticipated fixture in Celtic's pre-season schedule will of course be the first match played at home under the new boss.

Postecoglou will make his first appearance in the Glasgow dugout on July 17 against Preston North End and fans will be present — though it will take place against the backdrop of a planned protest co-ordinated by a number of fan groups against the board.

It's also crucial in that everyone involved will have one eye on the coming Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland, which follows three days later on July 20.

Keep an eye out for the possible return of treble Treble hero Scott Sinclair to Celtic Park, who moved to Preston in January last year.

The match kicks off at 5.30pm.

West Ham United (home)

Sandwiched by both legs of Celtic's massive European tie is a home friendly to West Ham United.

Postecoglou's men face David Moyes' Premier League opposition on July 24, who also have their own Europa League campaign to keep an eye on after a mightily impressive season.

Seven days later the Premiership action gets underway under the Saturday night lights at Tynecastle against Hearts, and so the manager saved saved the best for last.

Kick off will be 3pm at Celtic Park.
