Celtic players rated as Mikael Lustig suffers against rampant Rangers

The Premiership title is in the bag once again but this was anything but a champions' performance from Celtic .

Goals from James Tavernier and Scott Arfield fired Rangers to a comfortable derby victory as Neil Lennon's side toiled at Ibrox.

Lennon laid the blame squarely at the feet of his players post-match and there were few positives for the men in green and white.

Here are Michael Gannon's man-by-man ratings.

Tavernier's free-kick set the tone for a miserable day for the visitors (SNS Group)

Scott Bain

Got caught on his heels for Tavernier’s second minute free kick but it was a wicked ball. Decent with his feet and made some smart stops to prevent more damage. 5

Mikael Lustig

Blundered on the ball to allow Rangers the early lead and never looked settled. Slack in possession and often exposed by Kent.

Eventually went off injured. 4

Jozo Simunovic

Harassed every time he got on the ball and wasn’t allowed to bring it out from the back at his own pace. Out of his comfort zone and endured a difficult afternoon. 5

(SNS Group)

Kris Ajer

The hero the last time the sides met but this time got fooled by Jermain Defoe’s dummy for the killer second goal and was caught out of position on several occasions. 5

Jonny Hayes

Always willing but struggled with his distribution with options limited in front of up. Given an uncomfortable time of it by Tavernier surging forward. 5

Scott Brown

Making his 500th start for Celtic but it was one he’d rather forget. Crowded out and overran by the Rangers midfield and on the end of a sore one from Jon Flanagan. 5

Celtic boss Neil Lennon lets rip at Kevin Clancy over 'unacceptable' Jon Flanagan forearm smash on Scott Brown

Callum McGregor

Unable to get on the ball and dominate the flow of the game due to the Gers pressing. Produced a couple of decent deliveries but another one swept up in the blue tide. 5

Tom Rogic

It’s strange to see an Aussie struggle to run around in the sun. Surrounded by blue shirts at times but looked ponderous on the ball. Game passed him by. 4

Mikey Johnston

Chucked in to another Old Firm game but this time in a wide role. Ended up on defensive duty more often than not and found it hard going to stem the tide on either flank. 5

(SNS Group)

Oliver Burke

Keen to get involved and showed signs of his pace. But too often his first touch or his final ball wasn’t up to scratch and he missed a late sitter that could have set up an interesting finish. 5

Odsonne Edouard

Completely isolated with the supply line running dry.

Forced to come deeper and deeper to get involved and it took 80 minutes for him to cause any threat. 5

Subs

Jeremy Toljan

Hasn’t been able to get the pace of Scottish football and this was another day that went past in a blur after replacing Lustig . 3

Olivier Ntcham

Failed to make much of an impact as Rangers threatened to run riot. 3
