Celtic player ratings vs Rangers as Kyogo Furuhashi Hampden heroics seal Viaplay Cup final triumph

Celtic are the Viaplay Cup champions after a tantalising 2-1 win over Rangers at Hampden.

Both teams were in the feeling out process early on with Rangers looking to threaten on the counter but Celtic with more of the ball and a few half chances for both sides. The midfield battle was key as both sides wrestled for control with Cameron Carter-Vickers making a big first-half block before Kyogo saw his header flash just over before the break.

That was until on the stroke of half time Greg Taylor sizzled a ball in from the left that was missed by Daizen Maeda and fell kindly to Kyogo who was there to tap home with ease. In the second half, Rangers came out with intent as Ryan Kent's effort smashed the post. But Celtic looked the more threatening and another great attack saw Aaron Mooy slice the defence with a pass and Reo Hatate send it across the area for Kyogo to bag a delightful brace.

Alfredo Morelos was then in the area to smash home and bring Michael Beale's men back in to the final as they roared towards the Celtic defence but Postecoglou's men stood firm. Sead Haksabanovic nearly put it beyond doubt but for Allan McGregor in the late stages as Postecoglou sealed another cup triumph on derby day.

Joe Hart - 6

His distribution wasn't on point and a few nervy moments. Couldn't keep out Morelos' shot.

Alistair Johnston - 7

Lots of space down his side but didn't stride forward much in the first half. A few unsettling moments in the second half but he was solid when needed.

Cameron Carter-Vickers - 8

A battle with Morelos had ups and downs. Huge block on the half hour to keep it level.

Carl Starfelt - 6

Looked good on his feet and in the air despite big pressure. Didn't hesitate to hoof the ball away when danger was afoot.

Greg Taylor - 7

A great battle with Sakala and provided a top cross for Kyogo's opener. A huge tackle on 70 minutes to stop a sure-fire goal.

Aaron Mooy - 8

A cracking midfield battle with Lundstram and was integral for Celtic. Set the attack in motion for both goals but was hooked on the hour.

Callum McGregor - 7

A lot of chasing and picking up passes to do. A captain's display despite a few moments of lapsed concentration.

Reo Hatate - 8

Nice footwork from the off and looked cool under pressure. A great second half showing topped off with an assist.

Jota - 6

Not much service in the opening stages but looked reenergised in the second half. Hooked on the hour.

Kyogo - 9

Gave the Rangers backline the slip on one occasion but found his best chance, a header, go over. Slotted home a big chance just before the break and was on hand again to make a double. A clinical derby showing.

Daizen Maeda - 7

Saw a lot of the ball in the opening but couldn't do much direct play. Was much livelier in the second period and carried a big threat.

Subs:

Matt O'Riley - 6

Involved immediately in the midfield battle and looked like he added something.

Liel Abada - 5

Not many chances for him to run at defence. Booked for a dive when he did.

Hyeon-gyu Oh - 5

Was booked but tried to be psychical in the late stages.

Tomoki Iwata - 6

Did well to hold down the fort amid tense play.

Sead Haksabanovic - 5

A good run and forced a save from McGregor. Should have scored late on.
