Celtic player ratings vs Aberdeen - as Callum McGregor shines for the Hoops in semi-final victory

Celtic’s quest to secure a historic treble Treble moved one step closer to becoming a reality after they comfortably beat an ill-disciplined Aberdeen at Hampden Park.

James Forrest opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time for the Hoops , after Dom Ball was shown a second yellow for a clash of heads with Ryan Christie.

Odsonne Edouard's penalty then doubled Celtic's lead, after Jonny Hayes was brought down by Mikey Devlin just after the hour mark.

Lewis Ferguson was then shown a straight red card for a shocking challenge on Tom Rogic - before the Australian scored directly from the resulting free-kick.

Before a bad afternoon got even worse for the Dons when both Derek McInnes and Tommy Docherty were sent to the stands.

And below is how we rated the Hoops .

Scott Bain - 6

Very little to do throughout the 90 minutes.

Mikael Lustig - 7

Steady and composed display at the back.

Jozo Simunovic - 7

Dealt with everything thrown at him.

Kristoffer Ajer - 7

Another outstanding display from the defender, who is slowly becoming one of the Hoops' star men.

Kieran Tierney - 7

Full of energy and a constant threat.

Neil Lennon responds to Celtic management speculation as names are linked with post

Scott Brown - 7

Commanding display in the middle of the park from the skipper.

Callum McGregor - 8

Best player on the pitch. The Dons couldn't live with his pace, guile or movement.

Ryan Christie - 7

Stretched off just before the interval after a nasty collision with Dom Ball. Replaced by Tom Rogic.

James Forest - 7

Opened the scoring for his side with a wonderful goal from distance. A constant threat who caused the Dons plenty of problems. Replaced by Timothy Weah with 15 minutes remaining.

Jonny Hayes - 6

Much improved display from the 31-year old, who won his side a penalty. Replaced by Scott Sinclair on 75 minutes.

Larne chairman Clements: Tears flowed after our Championship title party.. lifting silverware at Inver Park is something I'll never forget

Odsonne Edouard - 6

Struggled to get in the game for large parts, but kept his cool to convert from 12-yards out.

Substitutes

Tom Rogic - 7

Looked back to his best. A constant threat and scored a wonderful free-kick to seal it for his side.

Scott Sinclair - 5

No impact.

Timothy Weah - 5

Like Sinclair, no impact.
