Celtic player ratings: Nir Bitton inexcusable as Hoops suffer devastating title sucker punch

Celtic suffered a devastating sucker punch in the title race as Rangers stormed 19 points clear at the top of the table.

A Callum McGregor own goal proved to be the difference at Ibrox as the Light Blues secured a 1-0 victory over their rivals.

The Parkhead side bossed the first half but couldn't make their chances count and a Nir Bitton sending off completing turned the game on its head.

Here's how Neil Lennon's men rated in today's match.

Celtic player ratings

Barkas

Didn't have much to do as Rangers had no shorts on target. Couldn't do much about the goal. 6

Ajer

Kept Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe under wraps for the most part. Good distribution from the back. 7

Bitton

Replaced the injured Christopher Jullien and after a solid first half, he was sent off after a challenge on Morelos. A moment of madness. 3

Frimpong

Final ball let him down, but a constant threat down the right hand side as Rangers put three men on him at times. 7

Laxalt

James Tavernier was nullified throughout so job done from the full-back in that sense. Poor delivery though going forward. 5

Soro

Started over Scott Brown in Celtic's midfield and put himself about, a handful in the second half. 6

McGregor

At his brilliant best in the first 45, but did not make the same impact after the break. Got his body positioning all wrong as he put the ball into his own net. 6

Turnbull

Popped up in some promising areas, but couldn't continue his hot scoring streak. 5

Christie

A good shift from the Scotland star, but his end product let him down and gave the ball away too many times. 5

Edouard

Partnered Leigh Griffiths up top and lively at times, but wasn't involved often enough. 5

Griffiths

Standout player from a Celtic point of view in the first half and could have had two goals at the break if it wasn't for a wonder save from Allan McGregor. Faded before being sacrificed after Bitton's red. 6

Subs:

Duffy

Could have been sent off for a late challenge on Kent, which would have compounded his error-riddled cameo. 2

Elhamed

On for the final ten minutes or so but didn't provide anything going forward. Poor on the ball. 2

Brown

Came on for the final few moments as Soro picked up a yellow card. 3

Elyounoussi

Poor delivery from set pieces and nothing came off for him. 3

Rogic

Had a pop at goal late on but couldn't get Celtic back in the game. 3
