Celtic player ratings: Mohamed Elyounoussi reignites spark but Jonjoe Kenny has Old Firm debut to forget

The spoils were shared on derby day as Alfredo Morelos cancelled out Mohamed Elyounoussi's opening strike.

The Parkhead side enjoyed a dominant first half as the winger put the hosts ahead with a brilliant diving header, but they were pegged back as the Colombian scored his first Old Firm goal.

It was a tight match after the restart and either team could have sealed the win, but neither could put their nose in front.

It ended 1-1 and here's how Celtic players rated on the day.

Celtic player ratings

Scott Bain - Good save to deny Ryan Kent's volley, but couldn't do much about Morelos' goal. Lucky to get away with a mix up the back as his clearance cannoned off Stephen Welsh. 6

Jonjoe Kenny - An Old Firm debut to forget as the full-back was at fault for Rangers' equaliser. Looked off the pace throughout. 4

Diego Laxalt - An energetic performance from the left-back and got himself into promising positions linking up with the Celtic attack. 7

Kris Ajer - Kept Morelos quiet for the most part and was rarely troubled. 7

Stephen Welsh - Had his hands full with Kent but put in another sold display as his stock continues to rise. 7

Callum McGregor - A solid display from the midfielder and was at the forefont of Celtic's impressive build up play. 7

Scott Brown - Rolled back the years with a vintage performance as he protected his back four. His biggest contribution was going up to Glen Kamara before the match, however. A touch of class from the skipper. 7

David Turnbull - Quiet first half but grew into the game after the break. Unlucky to be taken off. 6

Ryan Christie - Below par performance from the midfielder and never really got into the game. 5

Mohamed Elyounoussi - At his best in the first half up top with Odsonne Edouard. A fantastic finish with his diving header and could have had a few more. 8

Odsonne Edouard - Lively from the get-go and caused the Rangers defence all sorts of problems along with Elyounoussi. Booked for diving when he had a big claim for a penalty. Just wasn't clinical enough. 7

Subs:

Rogic - Didn't really make an impact. 3

Forrest - Some nice touches but didn't get long enough to make a difference. 4

Soro - On for the last few minutes to replace Brown. 3

Griffiths - Replaced Edouard in the dying minutes of the game. 3
