Celtic player ratings as only one man truly stands up during Bayer Leverkusen beat down

It was another night to forget for Celtic as they lost 4-0 to Bayer Leverkusen in their Europa League Group G match at Celtic Park.

Ange Postecoglou cut a frustrated figure as his side were outclassed by the efficient Germans but they passed up a host of gilt-edged chances.

Celtic's Europa League campaign is in tatters already and the Australian knows a win away to Aberdeen is needed.

Let's see how the players rated at Parkhead.

Joe Hart - Bravery for point-blank save from Diaby. No chance with three open goals and sent the wrong way from spot kick. Great stop from Schick. 7 .

Anthony Ralston - Lost the ball centrally which left him out of position as Bayer doubled their lead. Kept going and late shot flicked wide. 5 .

Carl Starfelt - Volley on the turn touched around a post. Left man-for-man too often defensively and never comfortable on the ball. 5

Cameron Carter-Vickers - Left exposed in the right channel for the second goal and punished at a block for handball and booked for penalty third. 5 .

Adam Montgomer y - Run created Rogic chance. Touch unable to stop the first and caught upfield for the second. Twisted by Frimpong for the penalty. 5 .

Callum McGregor - Skipper back in the midfield and shot deflected over. Worked tirelessly and covered ground before sensibly taken off just after the hour. 5 .

David Turnbull - Nightmare error after being caught in two minds brought Bayer’s crucial opener. Almost tried too hard to make up for the mistake. 5.

Tom Rogic - Shot over first half and some nice touches without ever getting a grip in the middle. Booked when trying to protect the ball and withdrawn. 5 .

Liel Abada - Israeli tried to create and missed the target when sniffing out a rebound after Jota ’s shot was saved by Hradecky. 5.

Felipe Jota - Drove from the left with a delightful flick setting Montgomery clear. Caused problems defensively for Frimpong and drew two superb saves from Hradecky. 6 .

Kyogo Furuhashi - Denied opener after rounding the goalkeeper and couldn’t convert a one-on-one chance. Superb turn and shot saved just after restart and then missed sitter. 6.

Subs:

Nir Bitton - Into the engine room to replace McGregor. 3 .

James McCarthy - Took over from Rogic for a final half an hour. 3 .

Albian Ajeti - Swiss striker on for the tiring Furuhasi. 2 .

Giorgios Giakoumakis - Debut for the Greek striker and almost flicked home a Ralston shot. 2 .
