Celtic player ratings as Mohamed Elyounoussi magic earns top billing but Shane Duffy fails to convince

Celtic were denied a statement Europa League victory by a second-half Lille onslaught.

Neil Lennon 's side led 2-0 at half-time inside the Stade Pierre Mauroy but were pegged back and forced to settle for a point after the interval.

Two stunning goals from Mohamed Elyounoussi put the Premiership champions in control at the break.

But Mehmet Zeki Celik and Nanitamo Ikone levelled matters for Lille to ensure shared in a pulsating, entertaining contest.

Scott Bain

Kept his place ahead of Vasilis Barkas and a penalty save in the opening period. Got away with one error and couldn’t stop goals. 7

Jeremie Frimpong

Dutch kid picked a delightful final pass to set up Elyounoussi for his second goal. Picked his runs and was disciplined. 7

Shane Duffy

Rash decisions in the first period forced Bain into saves including needless concession of a penalty. Still not convincing. 5

Kristoffer Ajer

Norwegian won some good tussles in the air and was strong in the backline until he was forced off by an injury in the second half. 5

Diego Laxalt

Outstanding work from the Uruguayan in the left-back role and great play for Ajeti chance. Excellent performer and unlucky not to win. 8

Scott Brown

Skipper returned to anchor the midfield. Battled hard against the tide in the second period before Soro offered fresh legs in the engine room. 6

Callum McGregor

Busy and energetic as he teamed up with his captain trying to halt the Lille midfield and get things going. Some great late defensive work. 7

Olivier Ntcham

Frenchman had some neat touches first half in an advanced midfield area. Booked for a rash tackle. Couldn’t keep hold of it after break. 6

Ryan Christie

Fleet-footed in dangerous areas and had a hand in the second goal. Willing worker tracking back and covering to help Celtic defensively. 6

Mohamed Elyounoussi

Norwegian put a chance on a plate for Ajeti before producing two special finishes for his first-half goals. Missed two more chances. 8

Albian Ajeti

Goal chalked off for offside and a glaring miss when teed-up by Elyounoussi. Set-up his team-mate for opener and good hold-up play. 6

Subs

Nir Bitton - Replaced Ajer and a couple of top blocks. 3

Odsonne Edouard - French striker was back and almost got Laxalt clear. 3

Ismailo Soro - Running power and calmed it in the midfield. 2

Tom Rogic - Aussie tried to take the sting out of the game. 2

Stephen Welsh - Late introduction to stiffen the team. 2
